• Hudson County Community College Center for Business & Industry Expert Staff and Instructors

CBI has put together a team of experienced professionals to provide the expertise and educational tools your organization needs. As the business market continues to grow and evolve, we will develop programs and services that address the new competencies your organization should have to succeed.

  • Here are a few of the members of our team:

    • Cathy DaSilva
Cathy has over 30 years of experience teaching ESL, customer service, and soft skills to adults. She has taught both here in the United States and Brazil, where she lived for 13 years.
Cathy worked 16 years for Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey as Director of the Family Learning Center. In this capacity, she was responsible for successfully initiating, marketing and developing the first ESL program at Goodwill Industries. This program was community-based and very successful. Cathy also ran an Office Skills Training Center and instructed students in Microsoft applications. The Office Skills Training Program was geared to instructing consumers with disabilities to learn new skills and become marketable.

    • Marilyn Gettinger, C.P.M., CPSM
Marilyn Gettinger owns and manages the consulting firm, New Directions Consulting Group. Marilyn created the organization in 1993 with the mission to assist companies in making the most of their precious resources. She designs customized training programs and consulting services to support organizations that must change to meet the demands of the 21st century. Her workshops present theory and then relate that theory to meeting the challenges of an organization. Participants are encouraged to take on intra-company projects that address upgrading and reengineering of existing business and manufacturing processes. Her consulting services offer a team approach to streamlining existing processes using all of the skills and experiences of staff members. She has consulted with organizations to improve purchasing, inventory, and supply chain processes.
NEW DIRECTIONS CONSULTING GROUP works with organizations both in the service and manufacturing sectors. The client base includes medical institutions, pharmaceutical, medical device, food, and cosmetic manufacturers, mold manufacturers, warehouse and distribution companies.
Marilyn helps promote other businesses through her involvement at both Bergen Community College and Kean University’s Small Business Development Center’s small business workshops. She holds a C.P.M., has completed several master level courses, and is certified in Materials Management from Bloomfield College.
