    GIRLS IN TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

    On March 29, 2018, Hudson County Community College will host its sixth annual “Girls in Technology Symposium.” The focus of the Symposium is to deliver information about careers and opportunities in STEM fields to female students. The event brings over 200 students, which include young girls from area high schools and middle schools and close to 100 school administrators, faculty, educational partners and staff together to promote STEM education through a series of hands-on activities, a ‘Women Working in Tech’ panel, and student contests. Our planning committee and panelists represent New Jersey City University, Rutgers University, Liberty Science Center, Eastern Millwork, Zaniac and other internal and external departments. Registration for this event is currently closed but if you would like to volunteer as event staff or sponsor a group of students please email cfarrell@hccc.edu.

    REFLECTION & EXPRESSION THROUGH DOLL MAKING WITH ANGEL HUGS 4 ALL

    Famous Women in History:

    Join Angel Hugs 4 All, Continuing Education, and the Office of Student Activities for this special family workshop in celebration of Women’s History Month. In this hands-on crafting class students will learn how to create dolls that represent their favorite women in history, including their own personal heroes. The instructor will give a brief lecture about Women’s History Month, which will include bios of some trailblazing women. Students will learn how to reflect on and express their thoughts and feelings through the creative process of doll making. Some famous dolls that can be made include Frida Kahlo, Malala Yousafzai, Maya Angelou, Amelia Earhart, and more. Students are encouraged to bring their own images of women they would like to celebrate. All materials are included.

    HCCC invites the Hudson County community to a free Book and Art Fair

    As summer winds down, fairs are an ideal way for families to enjoy free outdoor entertainment and activities, and to connect more with their community. HCCC’s Summer Book and Art Fair, held in our Culinary Plaza Park in Journal Square, is a family-oriented event that includes fun arts-and-crafts, workshops, shopping, food, entertainment, and giveaways. Attendees are able to purchase new and used books, shop local vendors’ wares, and participate in book readings and plenty of activities for children.
