    HCCC’s personal enrichment courses were created to be both educational and enjoyable, shared with friends or family, and promote community socializing and bonding experiences.



    Famous Women in History:
    Reflection & Expression Through Doll Making with Angel Hugs 4 All

    Join Angel Hugs 4 All, Continuing Education, and the Office of Student Activities for this special family workshop in celebration of Women’s History Month. In this hands-on crafting class students will learn how to create dolls that represent their favorite women in history, including their own personal heroes. The instructor will give a brief lecture about Women’s History Month, which will include bios of some trailblazing women. Students will learn how to reflect on and express their thoughts and feelings through the creative process of doll making. Some famous dolls that can be made include Frida Kahlo, Malala Yousafzai, Maya Angelou, Amelia Earhart, and more. Students are encouraged to bring their own images of women they would like to celebrate. All materials are included.

    Machine Sewing Boot Camp with M. Avery Designs

    Session 1: Introduction to the sewing machine and basic sewing. Learning to thread and operate the sewing machine properly, basic accessory construction, making straps, working with lining to eliminate raw edges, right side vs. wrong side of fabric, and working with interfacing. Project: Messenger Bag

    Session 2: Review of machine and sewing. Mastery of threading and filling the bobbin on the sewing machine, introduction to sewing patterns, construction of wearable items, and adding pockets. Project: Chef Apron or Zippered A-Line Fitted Skirt

    Session 3: Following sewing tutorial instructions for project construction, basic clothing construction, inserting zipper, introduction to garment fit, and hemming basics.

    Dates: Wednesdays, April 10 - 24
    Times: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m
    Price: $250 (plus optional $50 fabric pack)
