      The Honors Salon
Historically, the concept of the salon took root in 16th century Italy and flourished throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, especially in France. It was a gathering of intellectuals, artists, musicians, political figures, and many more, where discussions around important literary works, political ideas, and scientific breakthroughs took place. In the spirit of academic and intellectual discussion, we will be holding monthly events where participants—faculty, administrators, and students—can engage in Socratic discussion of an assigned text (literary, philosophical, STEM-related, or current event, to name a few) that they will have already read.
