This advanced course explores various methods of capturing, analyzing, integrating and communicating geographic information. Topics include georeferencing, map projections, coordinate systems, data collection with GPS, and data reprocessing and conversion methods for use with ArcInfo and ArcView. Students also examine the location and shapes of geographical features and the relationship of those features with one another, learn web-based GIS technologies and integrate concepts of GIS theory and methodology with technical skills to design, implement and present a GIS project.
