November 26, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – The students of Hudson County Community College (HCCC) have selected Alexandra Kehagias to be their Alumni Representative on the College’s Board of Trustees for the upcoming academic year. She was sworn in at the Board’s meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

A member of the Class of 2018, the North Bergen resident graduated magna cum laude with a 3.7 grade point average. Ms. Kehagias was an English major and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, and Psi Beta honor societies at HCCC. She served as president of the College’s National Society of Leadership and Success for the 2017-2018 academic year and was on the Dean’s List for four semesters.

Ms. Kehagias balanced work and college while giving back to the community. She was employed as a barista at a Hoboken Starbucks while pursuing her studies. Additionally, she tutored students learning English as a Second Language. Ms. Kehagias’ volunteer work included in-class academic coaching to help HCCC students better understand materials presented by instructors. Through the HCCC Serves: Earth Keepers group, she helped clean up a veterans’ cemetery.

Her awards include Honors Poster Presentations and National Engaged Leadership. Peers describe her as bright, energetic, intelligent, and kind. She will work with former student alumni representative Hamza Saleem to seamlessly transition into her new role.
