December 16, 2019, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Chris Reber announced that the College has entered into an agreement with New Jersey City University (NJCU) that will strengthen pathways for students in business programs.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our students to advance in their studies, and to prepare for rewarding and high-paying careers in the greater New York-New Jersey area,” Dr. Reber said. He noted that the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of business and financial operations occupations to grow 7% through 2028, faster than the average for almost all other occupations. Career opportunities for finance graduates include financial planning, financial analysis, insurance, investor relations, and corporate banking.

The agreement, which is retroactive to September 1, 2019, enables HCCC students who complete an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration to seamlessly transition to the NJCU Bachelor of Science in Finance program with full junior status. HCCC students may transfer up to 60 credits, and will need just 60 additional credits to complete their B.S. degree at NJCU.

NJCU President Dr. Sue Henderson commented, “NJCU is proud to partner with HCCC in offering this exciting program. Not only will a degree in finance provide students with earning potential and solid career skills, it will prepare them for innovations in the business world and success throughout their careers. Students will learn from experts from Wall Street and in the discipline, ensuring that they leave with cutting-edge knowledge and practical experience.”

In order to be eligible for this program, the HCCC Business students must maintain a 2.5 grade-point average (GPA). To assist in making a smooth transfer, the students will be able to meet on campus at Hudson County Community College with an NJCU advisor who will facilitate admissions and provide financial assistance counseling. As a result of the agreement, the NJCU application fee will be waived, and students will be apprised of opportunities for merit-based scholarships. The HCCC students participating in this dual-admissions program will also have access to NJCU events and the NJCU School of Business facilities.

Information on the HCCC Associate in Business Administration degree may be obtained by contacting the HCCC Enrollment Services team by phoning 201-714-7200 or emailing admissions@hccc.edu.

Applications for the HCCC Spring 2020 semester are now being accepted. Classes begin Jan. 24, 2020. Applications may be filed online at www.hccc.edu/apply.
