The College’s Director of Faculty and Staff Development chosen to assist NISOD in planning and implementing services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

May 7, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) has been selected to host and present the “Online Classified Staff Symposium” for the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

The symposium will feature presentations designed specifically for community and technical college classified staff, the essential workers who keep their colleges up and running – office, technical, maintenance and operations workers, instructional assistants, and others.

Lilisa Williams, the HCCC Director of Faculty and Staff Development, developed and coordinated the symposium. Ms. Williams was selected to work with NISOD Executive Director Edward J. Leach and a small group nationally to plan keeping NISOD’s exemplary services active and relevant during this difficult period. Ms. Williams holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and is presently enrolled in the Cornell University Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion program.

The four 50-minute symposium sessions will assist essential college workers in growing professionally and personally. The sessions will be delivered by Lilisa Williams and Sharon Daughtry, a College Lecturer (Business) at the College. Topics to be covered are "Secrets to Delivering Exceptional Customer Service;" "Time Management Skills for the 21st Century;" "Conflict Resolution in the Workplace;" and "Everyone Makes a Difference."

NISOD is a membership organization committed to excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership at community and technical colleges. The American Association of Community Colleges named NISOD the country’s leading provider of professional development for community college faculty, staff, and administrators.

Registration information for the June 17, 2020 symposium is available at https://www.nisod.org/online-convenings/classified-staff-symposium/.
