Hudson County Community College Names New Dean for Student Services

Michael Reimer, former Associate Dean for Student Services for the
College, now overseeing Student Services division.

January 6, 2014, Jersey City, NJ – At its December meeting, the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Board of Trustees affirmed the promotion of Michael Reimer to Dean for Students Services.

Mr. Reimer holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Peter’s University (New Jersey) and Master of Arts degree from Fairfield University (Connecticut).

He began his career in education as Graduate Assistant in Student Affairs at Fairfield University and went on to become that school’s Director of Student Activities. He was also a middle school teacher at a New York school.

In 2004, Mr. Reimer joined the staff of Hudson County Community College as Coordinator of the College’s Transfer Services Department, and also served as Director of Advisement & Counseling and Associate Dean for Student Services.

HCCC Vice President for North Hudson & Student Affairs Dr. Paula P. Pando said that Mr. Reimer has made significant contributions to the College, its students and the community. Among his accomplishments: Serving as team leader for implementation of the student module of Colleague (a single-source software suite); assisting in organizing Superstorm Sandy Relief Fair which benefited and assisted community members affected by the 2012 hurricane; assisting in launching several technological initiatives, including Retention Alert (for faculty) and MOX (a mobile access app for students; developed the online College Student Success Course; revising the New Student Orientation program and created an online module to maximize student participation; and strengthening support services for armed forces veterans who are students by partnering with the VET Center of Secaucus to make counseling, and support and referral services available on the HCCC campus.
