Shannon Gallagher graduated summa cum laude from Hudson County Community College in May 2012.
During her time as a student at HCCC, Ms. Gallagher was on HCCC’s Dean’s List (Fall 2010 - Spring 2012). She was named 2012 “Student of the Year,” and was part of the All-USA Community College and NJ All-State Academic Team of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society that year as well. She also served as President of Beta Alpha Phi, Hudson County Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, was President of the HCCC Teacher Education Club, Secretary of the College’s Film Club, and a member of the L.E.G.O. Leadership Program and the Psi Beta National Honor Society in Psychology.
Ms. Gallagher was awarded HCCC’s Hudson County Government/Freeholder Scholarship from 2010 to 2012, a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, and the 2012 Faculty Senate Scholarship for Future Educators. She was named one of the 2011 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise, earned the 2012 Community Service Award, and was a NJ STARS I & II student.
Shannon has since brought the same spirit and energy to furthering her education, teaching, and continuing her work with HCCC and the community.
After graduation, Ms. Gallagher served as Alumni Representative on the College’s Board of Trustees.
She is currently enrolled at New Jersey City University (NJCU) where she is pursuing a degree in education, and will graduate as part of the Class of 2015. She has been on the NJCU Dean’s List from Fall 2012 to Fall 2014 and is the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, as well as the 2014 AFT Local 1839-Donald J. Silberman Endowment Scholarship, and the 2014 Ruth Hagan Endowment Scholarship.
Shannon is presently a member of the HCCC Foundation Board of Directors and works with the Pioneer Boys and Girls-West Hudson Scholarship Committee. She also devotes time to Camp Fatima of New Jersey, where she works with children and adults with disabilities. She is also a substitute teacher for the Harrison Board of Education.
