The United States Department of Education announced the specific funding that has been allocated to every postsecondary institution in the nation through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act recently passed by Congress and signed into law. Hudson County Community College will receive funds under the CARES Act to provide emergency grants to students with unforeseen emergency expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. Eligible expenses include items in the student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocates funds to support individuals and businesses/organizations affected by the pandemic and economic downturn. The Act includes several sources of funds for colleges and universities, including the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.

HCCC will receive funds under the CARES Act to provide emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. Eligible expenses include items in the student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care.

All currently enrolled students are eligible.

We are reviewing applications as quickly as possible so we can meet students’ critical needs. Funds are limited, so we encourage students to apply now.

Eligible expenses associated with your enrollment at HCCC for CARES Act funding include, food (ex. food expenses due to cancelation of college meal plans or campus dining plans), housing (ex. housing expenses due to cancelation of campus housing, dorm or student’s residence), technology expenses, academic course materials, health care, child care and other unexpected expenses included in the student’s cost of attendance.

Documentation is dependent upon the circumstances of the student applying and will be outlined in application

CARES Act funding is limited. The college hopes to help as many students as possible, therefore, is awarding all ELIGIBLE students an initial CARES Act award. Due to the large volume of applications, students who are experiencing extreme financial need will be requested to reach out to the HCCC Hudson Helps Resources. Funding from the CARES Act emergency fund will not impact a student’s financial aid package.

We are reviewing applications as quickly as possible so we can meet students’ critical needs. Students will receive an email notification when their application is processed.

If funding is approved, the grant funds will be disbursed to your account.

PAPER CHECK BY MAIL
Emergency refund check will be mailed to student’s permanent home address on file. Please note that checks are mailed by default. It is crucial for students to make sure they always have their current address on file.

DIRECT DEPOSIT
Students can set up and enter your banking information for direct deposit by logging on to the MyHudson Self-Service portal.
