    • Project Management Certificate Program

Hudson County Community College’s Department of Continuing Education is proud to offer a live, fully online Project Management Certificate Program this fall. The certificate program promises participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of various principles and processes involved in managing a project of any size in any industry effectively. Project management training is a highly desirable skill to have as an employee. Increasingly, employers are screening candidates for either the PMP credential or training before they are hired for project management jobs. Globally recognized and demanded, project management training demonstrates that you have the experience, education, and competency to lead and direct projects.

Project managers are a pivotal part of any organization and can be part of almost any industry. As change agents, project managers are responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed efficiently with maximum quality and value added to the business. They set goals, identify measures of success, and encourage team members to collectively accomplish tasks within an organization. They often work with upper management to understand the overall strategy of specific projects, and to determine the tasks and timeline of completion.

At the conclusion of the Project Management Certificate program, students will be provided with a certificate of completion and a digital credential from the college that shows you have gained the essential skills to be a project manager. Note that this program is not a crash course intended to prepare students with tips and tricks for the PMP exam. It is a fully comprehensive, stand-alone certificate program designed to provide students with full training in proven strategies and practical, hands-on tools to drive successful project outcomes. This certificate also counts towards 36 hours of the educational requirements that are necessary to sit for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification exam, should students choose to pursue accreditation.

For anyone looking to get your PMP Certification, I absolutely recommend this course. The professor was patient in helping us to understand the material, and would go back to items we didn't understand. In addition, there is an abundance of extra material that will help you study for the exam. I took this course because I wanted to get more PM related roles, and I learned so much that I did not know about the subject. Even if you are unsure if you want to take the certification, this course will help you to better understand the PMP guidelines and how to implement them in your day to day work activities. I highly recommend it for anyone thinking about making a career shift into a PM role or already with PM experience looking to get certified.

I enrolled in this course/ program as a way to learn what project management is about, see if it's something I can see myself pursuing. I was a bit skeptical at first, as this was a virtual class and the online classes I've taken in the past weren't the best; but I am proud to say that this course did not disappoint. Professor Serradilla is very knowledgeable and super helpful during and after each session. She really wants for each and every one of her students to understand the material and ultimately pass the certification exam. The topics you are exposed to and learn throughout this course doesn't solely pertain to PM but you can use them in your everyday life. I am very happy I took this class and even more so very satisfied with the instructor and the dedication she put forth in the class.

The PM Certificate course at HCCC lived up to the course outline, syllabus, and my expectations. It provided me with a comprehensive view of all the Knowledge Areas and Process Groups, and it was presented in a lively and interactive manner. Professor Susan Serradilla-Smarth provided online presentations, real-world PM examples, opportunities for discussion, and fun learning tools for my success. I am preparing for the CAPM exam soon and look forward to applying my enhanced skills to the growing PM career marketplace.
