      Basic Spanish I

      Spanish for Beginners is a communicative beginning level Spanish course. Students will begin to acquire proficiency in the target language and develop a comprehensive understanding of basic language structure. Students will get an opportunity to communicate in Spanish while gaining confidence in their pronunciation and listening comprehension skills. Through videos, games, activities, and cultural anecdotes, students will get exposure to authentic language speakers and culture. Students will develop an understanding of many topics such as greetings, descriptions, likes and dislikes, foods, and much more.

      Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays (10 Sessions), April 19, 2021 - May 19, 2021

      Basic Arabic Online Course

      This course will offer a Communicative Approach to learning the Basics of the Arabic language. Through this method of learning, students are encouraged to apply what they learn orally, be corrected, and improve in their Arabic speaking skills. By the end of the course, students will have the tools to understand and participate in basic conversations using common phrases in the Arabic language as well as read some Arabic words.

      Dates: This course will run in April 2021.

      Basic French Online Course

      This course is designed for those who have little to no knowledge of the French language. During this course, students will develop basic communication skills through practice in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and role-playing.

      By the end of the course, students will have developed the ability to communicate in predictable and everyday situations; achieve basic grammatical structures and vocabulary.

      Dates: This course will run in Spring 2021.

      Basic Italian Online Course

      This course is following the Communicative Approach. Classes will be focused on achieving specific communicative goals, while building grammar skills. The course is structured in order to ensure the concept learned in the beginning are reinforced with each subsequent class, in order to enhance language retention. Homework will be assigned ad the end of each class. Homework completion is strongly advised as it’s proactive to a successful acquisition.

      Basic Italian Level II Online Course

      This is a continuation of our Basic Italian Level I course and follows the communicative approach by improving grammar skills and concepts that are integral in communication. You will continue to expand your communication skills in varying situations and improve your overall understanding of the language. The course is structured to ensure the concepts learned in the beginning are reinforced with each subsequent class to enhance language retention.

      Basic Italian III

      This is an intermediate continuation of our Basic Italian Level II class and continues to follow the communicative approach. You will continue to expand your communication skills in varying situations and improve your overall understanding of the language. The course is structured to ensure the concepts learned in the second level are reinforced with each subsequent class to enhance language retention.

      Week 1: reuniting with family. Be able to explain family relationships, customs, compare family values in Italy and America (culture) (Expand use of irregular verbs, conoscere, sapere)
      Week 2: explore your neighborhood (shops, businesses). Compare how different it might be with a typical Italian neighborhood. (use of regular and irregular verbs : cercare, costruire)
      Week 3: going shopping in an Italian shop. Be able to use measurements, quantities, and typical expressions. (irregular verbs volere, dare, pagare)
      Week 4: In the office. Be able to interact efficiently in a work setting ( irregular verbs: salire, uscire, rimanere)
      Week 5: What is your favorite sport? Do you actively participate or just enjoy watching sports? (irregular verbs tenere, cominciare)

      This live class is going to be held online via the Webex or Zoom platform. Participants will receive an email with details on how to access the live course a few days before the start of class.

      About the Instructor
      Gabriela has been the Italian Teacher at Fast Track Languages for three years and at Hudson County Community College in the Continuing Education program during the Summer and Fall of 2020. She also tutors adults and young students of Italian in the Jersey City, Bayonne, State Island, and South Orange area. Prior to her current position, she was the primary Italian Teacher and assistant Teacher of other language classes and the curricular preschool in English at Key Element Learning in Jersey City, where she worked for 5 years. Gabriela has a true passion for linguistics and teaching her language to adults, teens, and children alike. Gabriela graduated in Linguistics with a Magna Cum Laude from the Università di Genova, Italy. She also specialized in Foreign Language Teaching at Weber State University.
