Professor Acevedo began his career at HCCC as Instructor of History in 2013. He became College Lecturer in 2015, and History Assistant Professor/Program Coordinator in 2019. He teaches a variety of history courses, including the Western Civilization Honors seminars and Enhanced Writing - History.
Professor Acevedo has made academic presentations at venues throughout the United States, including the annual national conferences of the American Historical Association and the Community College Humanities Association. He was a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Scholar in Switzerland and Italy; and a MetroCITI Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he developed pedagogical projects to improve general/liberal education curricula at urban colleges and universities. Professor Acevedo received the 2019 Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Award from the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
