Board of Trustees

About the Board of Trustees

Hudson County Community College is governed by its Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees consists of the County Superintendent of Schools and 10 persons, eight of whom who are appointed by the appointing authority of the County with the advice and consent of the Board of Commissioners, and at least two of whom are appointed by the Governor. Trustees maintain their Trustee status until they are reappointed or replaced by the appointing authority.  The President of the College serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees without vote.  In addition, the student body elects one representative from the graduating class to serve as a non-voting member on the Board of Trustees for a term of one year.

Trustees are the stewards of the College and as such are responsible for monitoring its performance relative to compliance with statutes, service to students and the community, and performance relative to comparable institutions.

The image features a group of culinary students and a chef from Hudson County Community College (HCCC) standing behind an elaborate seafood display. The table is adorned with various seafood items, fresh herbs, and decorative elements, highlighting their culinary craftsmanship. The team is smiling, showcasing pride in their presentation and teamwork.

Board Goal #1

Review data, initiatives, activities and outcomes related to the College’s Student Success Action Plan, including student retention, completion, transfer, and gainful employment.  Create and/or revise policies and structures as appropriate to ensure accountability and support for the continuous improvement of student success outcomes.

The image captures a beautifully lit urban scene at night, featuring a historic building with glowing turquoise accents on its façade. A foreground of trees and fences adorned with festive string lights adds a warm, celebratory atmosphere. The setting appears to be part of Hudson County Community College's campus or nearby area, showcasing a vibrant evening ambiance.

Board Goal #2

Review, provide guidance and support for the College’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.  Create and/or revise policies to ensure accountability and support for the President’s and College’s DEI goals and outcomes.  Review and provide input into the work of the President’s Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, including climate, programming, equity, student success, minority/Hudson County vendor outreach, and related areas.

The image features a group of proud graduates from Hudson County Community College, celebrating their achievements. They are holding diplomas and certificates while posing in front of a green backdrop with the HCCC emblem. Dressed in a mix of professional attire and graduation gowns with cords, the group radiates joy and accomplishment.

Board Goal #3

Review, guide, and ensure accountability for continuous improvement in employee compensation, benefits, structures and supports based upon data and best practices.  Review and support initiatives to update employee position descriptions, develop an employee position classification system, and conduct market analyses to identify and address potential salary and equity gaps.

The image shows the entrance to the Hudson County Community College STEM building. The modern structure features a sleek design with a mix of glass, beige stone, and orange paneling, with the college's name prominently displayed above the entrance. The building reflects HCCC's focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.

Board Goal #4

Review and update the Facilities Master Plan, including planning for the Academic Tower, sale of current HCCC facilities, parking considerations, development of a campus signage and wayfinding project, and onboarding of the new Student Center.
