Biography
Dr. Carrie Rong Xiao is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Hudson County Community College (HCCC). A Certified Public Accountant, she brings professional experience in both corporate and governmental accounting to her teaching. Before joining HCCC, she taught graduate-level accounting courses at Keller Graduate School of Management for seven years.
In her current role, Dr. Xiao teaches Financial and Managerial Accounting across multiple learning modalities. Her teaching emphasizes engaging instruction, clear guidance, emerging technologies, and meaningful student support. She has presented her teaching practices at the NASPA Conference and the New Jersey Council of County Colleges’ Teaching and Learning in the Age of AI Convening. Her commitment to teaching and student success has been recognized through the Philip Johnston Award for Excellence in Teaching (2025-2026), the League Excellence Award (2025-2026), the NISOD Excellence Award (2023), and her selection as an AI Spark Grant Fellow.
Dr. Xiao holds an Ed.D. from Rowan University and an MBA from Virginia Tech. Her additional credentials include certifications in Online Teaching, Bloomberg Market Concepts, and Finance Essentials for Small Business. She also earned NJIT certificates of achievement in AI for Educators, AI-Enhanced Institutional Practices, Introduction to AI in Education, and AI for Administrative Efficiency.
