Biography
Luz is a Career and Transfer Specialist in the Career and Transfer Pathways Office. She supports students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs by providing guidance in several key areas. Her responsibilities include offering career services such as resume development, interview preparation, and networking support. In addition, Luz helps students explore career options aligned with their field of study and assists them through the transfer process to four-year institutions.
Luz Tellez began her journey in higher education as a part-time Academic Advisor and has since grown into her current role as a Career and Transfer Specialist at Hudson County Community College. As a proud first-generation college graduate, Luz understands the uncertainties students face—especially when navigating the transfer process to a four-year institution. Having once been in their shoes, she now uses her experience to guide students through what can often feel like an ambiguous or overwhelming journey. In her current role, she also supports students preparing for the workforce by helping them build strong resumes, cover letters, and interview skills. She believes that networking and professional readiness are skills that must be taught and nurtured—especially before students enter internships or job opportunities. Luz is passionate about empowering students to advocate for themselves, pursue meaningful careers, and confidently transition into the next phase of their academic or professional journey.
