Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Dr. Bandyopadhyay has been passionate about education since childhood. She joined
HCCC in 1990 as an adjunct instructor and has held many leadership positions during
her tenure at HCCC. She oversees HCCC's College Student Success Program and the Learning
Community Program. She is also the Chair of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Committee.
In this capacity, she plays a leadership role in reviewing all students' academic
standings records after the end of each semester. She closely works with the Vice
President for Academic Affairs to develop short- and long-term initiatives for the
Learning Community Program, College Student Success Program, and other initiatives
pertaining to the College's Academic Affairs division.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay is President Emerita of the National Tutoring Association, one of
the largest and oldest professional associations dedicated exclusively to academic
mentoring, coaching, and tutoring, and represents thousands of tutors in the United
States and 13 other countries. Dr. Bandyopadhyay received numerous awards from nationally
recognized organizations. The Chair Academy awarded Dr. Bandyopadhyay the Idahlynn
Karre Exemplary Leadership Award at their 24th Annual International Leadership Conference.
The Chair Academy presents this award to exceptional post-secondary leaders who exemplify
and support academic and administrative excellence in leadership. She was credited
with leading efforts to help students and improve retention while sharing these best
practices with colleagues nationwide by presenting at many national and regional educational
conferences.
