Assistant Professor, English | Academic Foundations ENG/RDG 071 and 072
Classes: Composition I; Composition II; Basic Reading II; Basic Writing II; and Technical Writing.
Heather is an English instructor with over 20 years of experience working in higher
education and a community college graduate. Her teaching philosophy relies on collaborative
exchanges as a means of learning discourse, and is informed by her experiences as
an instructor, a former writing center tutor, and her alignment with social-constructionist
and transformative principles. She incorporates this philosophy into teaching practices
by introducing new concepts in familiar ways and then acting as a facilitator for
students. Heather's pedagogical and research interests include collaborative learning,
digital rhetoric and literacies, peer review, and contingency faculty issues.
Heather teaches multiple courses in the English Department and is currently one of
the coordinators for Academic Foundations English. She also serves as the faculty
advisor for Sigma Kappa Delta, the English Honor Society.
