Professor Lai is widely known at HCCC for his tireless work as Advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. In addition to his scholastic endeavors and work with honor society students, he is involved in volunteer projects and events nearly every week. These include volunteering with Friends of Liberty State Park, Bike MS, MuckFest MS, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Walk, MS, Garden State Episcopal Community Development food pantry and homeless memorial, New York City Triathlon, City Challenge, Sharkfest, and more. Born and raised in the Big Apple, Professor Lai previously taught Mathematics at City University of New York.
