Professor Rubinstein began teaching at HCCC in 1979, and has also served as Coordinator of English, Reading, and Humanities. His academic interests include American, Irish and World Literatures, music, and the humanities. He has been affiliated with HCCC student organizations, and has been adviser to the College’s first student newspaper, The Students' Voice, and to the HCCC Music Club.
Professor Rubinstein has held memberships in the Community College Humanities Association, where he served as HCCC Liaison until 2016, the New Jersey Reading Association, and the James Joyce Society. He is a recipient of the following awards and honors: 2008-2009 Fellow, Metropolitan Colleges Institute for Teaching Improvement (MetroCITI), Teachers’ College, Columbia University; 2007 Johnston Communications Faculty Teaching Excellence Award; 2004 Academic Excellence Award, Hudson County Community College Faculty Senate; 1984 College Reading Association Outstanding Thesis Award; and 1984 New Jersey Reading Association Research Award.
