Biography

Katherine Sorto, joined Hudson County Community College as a student, and shortly after that became a Peer Leader in 2015. Her first part time position allowed her to grow, develop, and discover her intense passion for serving students within higher education setting. Katherine has continued her education due to her passion among the field of education. She is a Doctoral Candidate studying Educational Leadership. After serving HCCC for many years, Katherine calls HCCC her second home. She truly believes HCCC is one of the best colleges in the State of New Jersey and hopes for all students to call it their home. She has background servicing communities as a Teacher, Family Service Specialist for the State of New Jersey, NJ State Notary Public, and in various roles at HCCC. Her focus is to provide services and support to the community as she works closely with youth and young adults.

Katherine serves as a Career Advisor for the Center for Adult Transition Program. As a Career Advisor she serves the Hudson County population of students who are diagnosed with intellectual and developmental delays. Her mission is help prepare, equip, and guide students toward student academic success, career exploration, and the next steps for their future. She provides a safe space and welcoming environment to students, staff, and faculty. She brings valuable wisdom, experience, and academic support for students coming her way.
