March Culinary Classes at Hudson County Community College Prepare Home Chefs for Star-Quality Easter

Classes include learning to make sausage, artisan breads, sushi and gluten-free cuisine, as well as cake decorating, and preparing luscious chocolate and Easter treats.

 

February 20, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – Easter is April 1, and Hudson County Community College (HCCC) invites the community to spend March getting ready to host exciting, new Easter and Spring get-togethers for family and friends.

This March, the College will offer weekend classes for a preparing variety of delicious cuisine in the kitchens of the College’s award-winning Culinary Arts Institute, located at 161 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City – just two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Transportation Center.  Early registration is recommended as space is limited. Payment by credit card, money order, cash, or check payments is due at time of registration.

The classes include:

Sausage Making on Saturday, March 3 from 1 to 5 p.m.  Attendees will learn everything needed to make yummy sausage from start to finish, and will create a batch of their very own sausage to take home. Cost: $45.00 per person.

Professional Cake Decorating on Saturday, March 10 from 1 to 5 p.m.   In this hands-on class, attendees will learn to create striking, edible works of art. An expert pastry chef will acquaint them with classic decorating techniques, including carving, icing, and piping methods for making roses, baskets and leaves using buttercream icing. Cost: $45.00 per person.

Chocolate Delights on Saturday, March 17 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.  It’s time to channel one’s inner Willy Wonka and learn to create sweet treats from start to finish. Chocoholics will mix and stir their way through an introduction to milk, white, and dark chocolate, learn how to dip and garnish confectionary creations and other chocolate treats! Cost: $35.00 per person.

The Artistry of Sushi on Friday, March 23 from 6 to 10 p.m.  Imagine being able to learn the techniques top sushi restaurant chefs use to make fresh sushi dishes in one’s own kitchen. Attendees will be introduced to the proper classifications and methods used for preparation, including ingredient selection and serving techniques. Cost: $45.00 per person.

Gluten-Free Cooking on Saturday, March 24 from 1 to 5 p.m.  Everyone knows someone who is gluten intolerant. Here’s a chance to learn to prepare delicious, classic, gluten-free breads, cakes and desserts while acquiring knowledge of gluten-free alternative ingredients and how to use them effectively and efficiently at home.  Cost: $45.00 per person.

Creating Artisan Breads on Sunday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The artistry of baking can be richly rewarding and enjoyable when one possesses a strong understanding of the basics. Those who attend this class will learn about the ingredients and techniques professionals use to cre­ate yummy quick breads and batter breads. Cost: $60.00 per person.

Easter Goodies on Saturday, March 31 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.  A great chance to create an Easter basket for child with handmade goodies. The class will include making chocolate bunnies and seasonal candies to beautifully decorated eggs that can be taken home and enjoyed! Cost: $45.00 per person.
