Hudson County Community College Invites the Community to an Afternoon of Spoken Word and Art

March 2, 2016, Jersey City, NJ – On Friday, March 4, 2016 at 1 p.m., local authors, and faculty and students from Hudson County Community College (HCCC) will read excerpts from literary works and poetry in the College’s Benjamin J. Dineen, III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery. The event, titled “A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words,” is being presented by the College’s Department of Cultural Affairs; there is no charge for admission.
HCCC Director of Cultural Affairs Michelle Vitale said the selections for Friday afternoon’s readings were inspired by works in the “Contemporary Hudson County” exhibit, which is on view now through Tuesday, March 8 in the Gallery. The exhibit was curated by HCCC Professor Laurie Riccadonna and includes works by Hudson County artists, several of whom are members of the HCCC faculty and staff. Exhibiting artists include Thomas John Carlson, Michelle Doll, Eileen Ferara, Allison Green, Armando Guiller, Deborah Jack, Iris Kuvert-Rivo, Doug Madill, Jason Minami, Edwin Montalvo, Margaret Murphy, Katie Niewodowski, Duda Penteado, James Pustorino, Jon Rappleye, William Santos, Jill Scipione, Jeremy Smith, Anne Trauben, Michelle Vitale, and Amy Wilson.
The Benjamin J. Dineen, III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery is located on the top floor of the College’s Library Building at 71 Sip Avenue – just across the street from the Journal Square PATH Station in Jersey City. The Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. There is no charge for admission.
