‘Ladies Who Lecture & Lunch’ Series at Hudson County Community College Celebrates Centennial of Women’s Suffrage

Art historian and curator Monika Fabijanska will speak at the College’s JC Fridays event on March 6.
March 5, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – The growing presence of women in contemporary art is the subject of the upcoming cultural lecture series, “Ladies Who Lecture & Lunch.” The series is being presented by the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Departments of Cultural Affairs, Human Resources, and Student Affairs.
The College invites students, faculty, administrators, and community members to the first session of the series featuring Monika Fabijanska on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Benjamin J. Dineen III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery Atrium on the sixth floor of the Gabert Library at 71 Sip Avenue, in Jersey City, NJ. “Ladies Who Lecture & Lunch” coincides with the centennial of the U.S. Women’s Suffrage Movement, and the 2020 celebration of Women’s History Month. Ms. Fabijanska is a New York-based art historian and independent curator who specializes in women’s and feminist art, and is revered for her groundbreaking iconographic curating formula. She curated the critically acclaimed exhibition, “The Un-Heroic Act: Representations of Rape in Contemporary Women’s Art in the U.S.” at Shiva Gallery, John Jay College, City University of New York. That exhibition was ranked the fifth-best New York City art show in 2018. Ms. Fabijanska holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Warsaw.
The HCCC Department of Cultural Affairs welcomes Hudson County community members, organizations, businesses, and school groups to enjoy special programs at the College. Groups of 6 to 30 visitors are invited to a FREE 45-minute tour of the current exhibition in the Dineen Hull Gallery.
