June 26, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) will conduct a Virtual Information Session for those interested in the College’s Associate of Science in Radiography program on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.
Highly in demand, radiologic technologists prepare and position patients for exams, take x-rays, and provide thoughtful, competent care. They work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, physician’s offices, and other medical settings. Some specialize in clinical areas ranging from prenatal care to orthopedics. Employment growth for radiologic technologists is faster than the average for all occupations. The median wage for radiologic technologists was $60,510 in 2019, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Radiography is part science, part art. HCCC students enrolled in the 63-credit, Associate of Science (A.S.) in Radiography degree program study subjects such as anatomy and biology, radiation safety and physics. They learn to use computers to acquire and manipulate images and work with some of the most technologically advanced equipment in the medical field.
The coursework also prepares students to successfully demonstrate competency in more than 50 radiological patient examinations required by the State of New Jersey Bureau of Radiological Health. Students completing the program will receive their Associate in Science in Radiography degree that allows them to sit for the national American Registry of Radiologic Technologists exam.
