July 7, 2021, Jersey City, NJ – Earlier this month, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) honored 40 graduates who were members of the HCCC Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program. The celebration was held in the College’s Gabert Library.
The event began with a warm welcome from HCCC Assistant Director of EOF, Knight Ambubuyog, and congratulatory remarks from HCCC President, Dr. Chris Reber, and HCCC Director of EOF, Jose Lowe.
The Class of 2021 honorees conveyed special thanks to Dr. Reber; Dr. Darryl Jones, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Yeurys Pujols, Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Lisa Dougherty, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment; Dr. David Clark, Associate Dean of Student Affairs; Veronica Gerosimo, Assistant Dean of Student Life and Leadership; the HCCC Board of Trustees; HCCC faculty and staff; and the EOF graduates.
For over 50 years, the EOF Program has provided Hudson County Community College students with academic and financial support to assist in the journey to acquiring an Associate Degree. Created by a New Jersey statute in 1968, the EOF Program is a proven, student success model that emphasizes three key aspects of a successful college student: personal, academic, and social. The comprehensive model is geared toward students who have the potential to do college level work, were academically under-prepared in high school, and have a history of financial disadvantage.
