Jersey City, NJ – William J. Netchert, Esq., Chair of the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Board of Trustees, announced that Jeanette Peña was recently sworn in as the newest member of the Board.
Ms. Peña, a bilingual school psychologist with the Jersey City Board of Education Department of Special Services, earned her Master of Arts degree in education from Seton Hall University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Rutgers University. She also holds a Professional Diploma in School Psychology from New Jersey City University.
“This is something of a homecoming for Ms. Peña, as she was an adjunct professor here at Hudson County Community College from 1994 to 2000,” Mr. Netchert stated. “We welcome the expertise and perspective she will bring to the Board.”
HCCC President Dr. Glen Gabert informed that Ms. Peña had also been a School Psychologist for the Newark and Paterson Boards of Education, and was a Youth Counselor at Safe Haven in Union City. She is currently the President of the Union City Board of Education (since 2003), and served as a Commissioner for the Union City Redevelopment Agency from 2001 - 2003.
“All of us here at the College extend a warm welcome to Jeanette Peña. We look forward to working with her as the College continues to grow academically and physically,” Dr. Gabert said.
