Hudson County Community College Announces Expansion of the Community College Opportunity Grant

August 7, 2019

Current and prospective students may now apply for financial awards for Fall 2019 semester.

August 7, 2019, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Chris Reber announced that the College will continue to offer tuition-free education to qualified students through the New Jersey Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG).

The CCOG program provides students with the opportunity to attend community college tuition free. For the 2019-20 school year, the family income eligibility limit has been increased, making the grant available to more students in Hudson County. Students with adjusted gross household incomes of up to $65,000, who take six or more credits during the 2019-20 academic year, are eligible to receive CCOG awards for tuition and educational fees after applying other federal or state grant aid they receive.

“Thousands of HCCC students balance college with full-time employment, full-time studies, and caring for their families. This program will enable students to achieve their higher education goals while managing other important priorities,” Dr. Reber said.

Hudson County Community College has one of the most comprehensive Financial Aid programs in New Jersey, with 83 percent of HCCC students receiving assistance. Still, there is a large population in Hudson County in need of tuition assistance.
