New HCCC Degree Fights More Than Just Terrorism

Homeland Security degree provides employment opportunities in dozens of growing industries.

 

August 8, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) is pleased to announce a new Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program with a Criminal Justice option in Homeland Security.

There is growing demand for Homeland Security professionals in a variety of industries. Careers include law enforcement officers, import and export specialists, national and international security advisors, intelligence operations professionals, telecommunications specialists, investigators, screeners, analysts, recovery experts, transportation security specialists, and many more.

Dr. Chris Reber, HCCC President, noted, “There is a growing challenge of events that destroy people and property throughout the world. Our new degree program will enable our students to become trained professionals who can help prevent these events and protect communities.”

The new degree option will provide students with a foundation for planning, implementing, and managing security, procedures, and operations. It will prepare them to collect, analyze and distribute information about contemporary threats and vulnerabilities, and to develop communication and leadership skills that are essential to this work. Additionally, students will have the option of completing an externship in order to practice what they learn in the classroom and enhance their resumés.
