Shutterbugs Can Sharpen Skills in Hudson County Community College’s ‘Holiday Lights in NYC’ Class

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Department of Continuing Education is offering “Holiday Lights in NYC,” a Saturday-Sunday photography class that can help beginner and experienced photographers take their skills to the next level. The Saturday, December 7, 2019 session runs from 12 to 5 p.m. and includes a field trip to photograph New York City landmarks, with a backdrop of holiday lights and décor. The Sunday, December 8 session runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and focuses on basic photo retouching techniques. The classes will meet at the College’s Gabert Library, 71 Sip Avenue in Jersey City – just across the street from the Journal Square PATH Transportation Center. Instructor William Ortega earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New Jersey City University, Master of Fine arts degree from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts, and Master of Professional Studies degree in Digital Photography from the School of Visual Arts. He will guide students in exploring the concepts of exposure, color balance, and composition. Students will also learn about shooting close-up (macro), landscape, still and portrait photos; and studio lighting. Students may use a digital camera, smartphone or iPhone.
