December 12, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) students will light the College’s Culinary Plaza Park in remembrance of Michael Reimer, Dean of Student Services, who passed away last week.

The event will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the park, which is located across the street from the HCCC Culinary Conference Center at 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City, NJ.

HCCC President Dr. Chris Reber said Dean Reimer had been working with the College’s Student Government Association on the event before his sudden passing on December 6, 2018. “Our students decided to reschedule the event and to pay tribute to Dean Reimer by making it a time to gather, and to reflect on all the hard work and years of dedication he tirelessly provided to Hudson County Community College,” Dr. Reber stated.

Michael Reimer served as the College’s Dean of Student Services since January 2014. He joined HCCC in 2004 as Coordinator of the Transfer Services Department and also served as Director of Advisement and Counseling and as Associate Dean of Student Services. He was known and loved throughout the College for his warm and welcoming spirit, his enthusiasm and his trademark laugh.

HCCC faculty, staff, and members of the community will join the students and Dr. Reber at the tribute. Jersey City’s Ronald McNair Academic High School Glee Club will perform that afternoon. All are invited to attend.
