Mental Counseling and Wellness Policy

 

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Mental Health Leave Policy is to allow Hudson County Community College (“College”) students with documented mental health needs to take a voluntary leave of absence from the College when medically warranted.

POLICY

The College and its Board of Trustees (“Board”) are committed to supporting students’ mental health and wellness as they pursue their academic, personal, and professional goals. Students who request a mental health leave of absence will be treated in a confidential, respectful, and accommodating manner. In addition to facilitating the leave, the Office of Mental Health Counseling and Wellness will support students when they wish to return to the College, when a leave of absence is warranted.

The Board delegates to the President the responsibility to develop procedures and guidelines for implementing this policy. The Office of Mental Health Counseling and Wellness shall be responsible for implementing the procedures and guidelines developed for this policy.
