Intro to Creative Writing

This interactive, five-session online workshop will help participants get started (establish a productive writing practice and learn the basic elements of effective writing) and keep going (stay motivated and focused to complete writing goals in any genre). This workshop is designed so that participants can take the individual topics they wish to improve upon or can sign up for all five sessions.

Following is a brief description of each two-hour session:

Creative Writing: Establish a Productive Writing Practice: Identify strategies and approaches that work for and evolve with you and keep you motivated.
Creative Writing: Read Like a Writer: Analyze texts of all genres to expand your knowledge of what does and doesn’t work and the different possibilities for your own work.
Creative Writing: Plot Development: Learn how to keep the action moving and compelling.
Creative Writing: Description: Learn how to build worlds with words.
Creative Writing: Characters: Learn how to develop interesting and believable characters.
