Advising

Welcome to HCCC Advising!

The Center for Academic and Student Success at Hudson County Community College strives to provide the information and resources you need to accomplish your own personal, academic, and career goals.

A lively classroom or computer lab session featuring students actively engaged in learning and collaboration. Each student works at a computer station, while an instructor or facilitator provides guidance to a small group. The room is equipped with modern technology, including a projector displaying materials on a screen, fostering a dynamic and interactive educational environment. This image reflects a commitment to hands-on learning and teamwork.

The team of Academic Advisors and support staff are invested in helping you map out a plan of what courses to take each semester, work through any challenging semesters, create a graduation plan, and Navigate next steps after HCCC.

Every student’s story is different

Here’s what to expect as…

Beginning your first semester at college can be stressful. We are here to start you on your journey and help you along the way. Your assigned advisor will be available for one-on-one meetings to assist with any questions/concerns you may have as well as plan out current and future semesters. Click here to see our team.

As a parent, while it is important to be a strong support system, please keep in mind that we do have to adhere to FERPA regulations when discussing a student's academic records. Generally, all academic information can only be given to the student unless they sign off on a FERPA release form. While this may feel frustrating, keep in mind this is part of helping the student gain autonomy and independence.

Many of our incoming students already have credits from another institution. If you are planning to transfer into HCCC from another school, you will need to submit your official transcripts which will be evaluated by our Transcript Evaluator. There is a 30-credit limit on the amount of credits that can be transferred in, and your credits will be evaluated in regard to the major you choose when you fill out your HCCC application.
