Steps to Applying for Financial Aid

Step 1: Apply for an FSA ID

Apply for an FSA ID. Your ID will enable you to “sign” documents electronically, access your Student Aid Report (SAR) online, and make corrections to your FAFSA through the web. Apply for a FSA ID.

Step 2: Submit the FAFSA

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA, which opens Oct. 1 is one of the most important steps you can take to be considered for financial aid. To begin your application, select the “START HERE” button on the FAFSA homepage. HCCC’s School Code: 012954

Step 3: Review your Student Aid Report

After you submit your FAFSA form online, you can check its status immediately by going to the FAFSA homepage and logging in with your username and password.

NJ Grants and Scholarships: You can log on to NJFAMS to see the status of your state aid application. Complete the “To Do List”. For new students, go to NJFAMS, click the link for NJFAMS, follow the steps to create your student account and login credentials.

Step 4: Access Your Self-Service Financial Aid portal account

Check your financial aid status and documents needed to finalize your application or award. Your financial aid award will be posted in your Self-Service Financial Aid account. You will be able to access the Self-Service by logging into MyHudson Self-Service Financial Aid portal.

Watch for response by email.
Review your Student Aid Report (SAR).
Check for errors.
Make any necessary corrections online using your PIN.

Based on the information you provided on your FAFSA, you may be required to submit additional documents. MyHudson Self-Service Financial Aid gives you important information, including missing documents, urgent action items, and the status of your application as soon as you sign in.
