The Nursing Program includes a theoretical base of general education and science courses together with a range of nursing theory and diverse practical course work designed to prepare graduates to be eligible for the state licensure examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and to prepare students for 21st century nursing practice. This program can be completed in the Day, Evening or Weekend course of study. Many nursing resources are available and a supportive framework has been developed to be engaging and to assist students to accomplish their goal of becoming an RN.
Graduates of the Nursing Program must pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses in order to practice nursing. Students who successfully complete this program will be awarded an Associate in Science Degree, Nursing from Hudson County Community College. Graduates of this Program may enter into a variety of upper division Nursing programs through the many articulation agreements in place at four-year institutions.

HCCC Nursing Program has a State-of-the-Art skills practice lab which includes high fidelity mannequins and large student skills practice space that is utilized for nursing skills demonstration and nursing skills practice
Interested in continuing your nursing education after HCCC? Agreements exist for HCCC students to continue their BSN/MSN education that is both affordable and accessible. HCCC has a seamless articulation with New Jersey City University where students may complete their degree in 15 months.
Additional agreements also exist at Ramapo University, University of Phoenix and several other local colleges and universities.
Students who are accepted to, and enrolled in, HCCC’s Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) degree program and who need financial assistance may be eligible to receive funding through New Jersey’s Pay It Forward Fund. The New Jersey Pay It Forward Fund is a first-of-its kind initiative that provides no-fee, no-interest loans to students pursuing careers in high-wage, high-demand fields.

Hudson County Community College Nursing program has offered a unique learning experience. The instructors have helped me develop as a person and prepare to be an exceptional nurse. My two years at this program have taught me to cultivate good learning habits and skills to continue to use for my future education.
I would not be a nurse today if it wasn't for the weekend nursing program at Hudson County Community College. The professors are responsive, caring, and supportive. The clinical portion exposes you to a variety of different patient populations that foster an exceptional learner experience for what you need to be successful in the field.
The Hudson County Community College Nursing Program meets the state education requirements for a Registered Nurse license in the state of New Jersey. Hudson County Community College has not determined if the Associate Degree program at the college meets the state requirements in any other state, any US territory or the District of Columbia.
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) has resources that may be helpful.
In order for safe nursing practice to occur and for students to be qualified to participate in and complete the program a nursing student must be able to perform these essential functions. The complete list of Functional Requirements is listed in the Nursing Program Student Information Handbook.
All Applicants are required to take and pass an entrance exam. Applicants must achieve an acceptable score on the ATI TEAS EXAM for admission consideration. Details can be found in the Nursing Program Student Information Handbook.
As of MAY 1, 2023 -Exam required- only ATI TES Exam. Exam must be in-person/at a testing site-location (Remote testing is NOT ACCEPTED) and exam must be within the last 3 years.
