Financial Literacy 101 Event is about acquiring a set of skills and knowledge that
allows an individual to make informed and effective decisions through their understanding
of finances. Education on the management of personal finances is an essential part
of planning and paying for post-secondary education.

- Banking and Financial Services
By the time you leave this session, you will have a greater understanding of banks
and credit unions, and how to select a financial institution.
- Budgeting and Money Management
By the time you leave this session, you will learn how to create a budget and the
benefits of it and how to use student loan money wisely.
- Credit and Debt Management
By the time you leave this session, you will learn ways to improve your credit score
and get out of debt.
- Entrepreneurship
By the time you leave this session, participants will learn about the risks and benefits
of entrepreneurship.
- Identity Theft and Privacy Rights
By the time you leave this session, you will learn how to protect your identity and
privacy rights.
- Scholarships
By the time you leave this session, you will learn sites to visit for various scholarships,
how to simplify the application process and write your essay.
- Student Loans: Borrowing and Repayment
By the time you leave this session you will learn about all federal loan types and
alternative educational loans, as well as the various repayment options available.
- Tax Return Basics
By the time you leave the session, participants will learn about the basics of filing
a tax return and credits/deductions available for education.
