Hudson County Community College Partners with JED CAMPUS

HCCC serves its diverse communities with inclusive programs and services that promote student success and social and economic mobility. HCCC is not only a place where students grow intellectually but where they are felt cared for and supported and can develop the confidence to dream about the future. We support students from a holistic perspective, and the JED campus will help us continue our mission to support our students’ emotional well-being by helping us implement and identify programming that enhances emotional health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention efforts on campus. Our partnership with JED allows for the following:

  • Access to a dedicated JED campus advisor as well as clinical and staff with expertise in campus mental health who will work to enhance our existing emotional health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention efforts on campus.
  • Participation in the JED campus learning community – a network of Jed campus schools that will share learning and experiences as well as presentations and discussions on specific topics that emerge from their work.
  • Access to an online resource library.
  • Access to the playbook, with programming.
  • The JED campus membership seal is to signify HCCC’s commitment to students’ well-being.

A calming illustration of a silhouette surrounded by floral designs, promoting the “Press Pause” project. This initiative teaches techniques like breathing, movement, and gratitude to manage stress and anxiety.

Trauma can increase stress and anxiety levels, but research shows that pausing, taking a breath or a beat, and finding ways to create calm can help us cope with stressful situations.

The Press Pause project, launched in partnership with MTV and through Half of Us, uses breathing, movement, gratitude, and other tools to help you to decompress and regroup.

The visual resonates with emotional depth, highlighting the importance of addressing mental health and fostering meaningful conversations. This aligns with the JED Foundation's "Seize the Awkward" campaign, encouraging open dialogue about mental health struggles.
