The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Veterans Affairs and International Student Services reports to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The Director oversees the development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all programs, activities, policies, and services offered to Veteran and international students at Hudson County Community College (HCCC). The Director serves as the College's first point of contact and subject matter expert related to Veterans Affairs and International Student Services. The Director provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction to ensure that HCCC is inclusive and accessible for Veteran and international students. Key components of the Director's work are to lead and support targeted enrollment efforts, retention and engagement activities, and community-building programs and celebrations for Veteran and international students. The Director collaborates with multiple campus constituents, including faculty; the Offices of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Enrollment, Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Counseling and Wellness, Registrar, Public Safety and Security, Facilities, Communications, Information Technology, Institutional Research and Planning, Legal Counsel, and others, to expand and refine support and secure access for Veteran and international students.
Classification Grade: 117
Minimum of a Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field preferred; four (4) years of work experience with Veteran and international students, preferably within postsecondary educational institutions; and two (2) years of supervisory experience; strong knowledge of federal and state regulations and policies governing Veterans’ Affairs and International Student Services; demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Experience working as Veteran an Internation students program leader, with a provent track record of devloping and substaining a team for succsess, serving a culturally and socioeconomically diverse college population, is highly desirable. Proficiency with various computer software programs, including Microsoft Office, project management tools, student success platforms (e.g., EAB Navigate), and student information systems (e.g., Ellucian-Colleague). Experience writing and administering grants preferred.
