PAID Internship
Climate disasters, combined with the lingering economic stress of the pandemic, present
immediate challenges to the survival of small businesses and the outlook for long-term
recovery and growth. The Climate Change Business Resiliency Internship (CCBRI) is
an opportunity for Hudson County Community College (HCCC) students to learn and earn
while helping businesses prepare a recovery plan.
Program Description
Hudson County Economic Development Corporation (HCEDC), in partnership with Hudson
County Community College, is pleased to provide a paid internship to HCCC Students.
Student interns will join businesses and participate in a three-part webinar training
on climate change, followed by assignments designed to pair interns with businesses
and help them to prepare a recovery plan. The program will run for a total of 11 weeks
and includes the following activities:
- Information Session – Required attendance. HCCC student information session and enrollment. Tuesday,
September 13th, 2022, 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the HCCC Culinary Conference Center,
Banquet Room.

- Disaster Preparedness for your Business – Optional attendance. An overview of the essentials for developing and executing
a preparedness plan. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, via Zoom.
- Training – Required attendance. HCCC interns and businesses will be training together in the
basics of climate change, i.e. from identifying risks to preparing and executing recovery
plans.
- Module #1: Identifying Key Climate Hazards. Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 10 am via Zoom.
- Module #2: Business Risk Assessment. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 10 am via Zoom.
- Module #3: Action Plans. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 10 am via Zoom.
- Assignments – Following each module, businesses will have an opportunity to be paired with student
interns to begin planning recovery strategies.
- Business Smarts – HCEDC, in partnership with UCEDC, has scheduled the 2022 Business Smarts series
to complement the Climate Change Business Resiliency webinar series with workshops
on topics to help businesses strategize and develop a recovery plan, including The
Basics of Financing your Business, Digital Marketing & Social Media, and Business
Planning in Times of Change.
Compensation and Timeframe
- $15.00/hr for a maximum of $250.00, paid upon the completion of the internship.
- Beginning Monday, September 19, 2022, through Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Student Eligibility
Students attending Hudson County Community College (HCCC).
Interest in climate change, business, serving the local community.
Recommended Fields of Study (not required)

Application Deadline
Applications will be taken on a rolling basis and must be submitted via the registration
link no later than Friday, September 16th, 2022, by 12 pm EST to the HCEDC Program
Coordinator.
