This is an opportunity for a data-driven, community-oriented student to support the workforce development initiatives of the Resident Empowerment & Community Engagement (RECE) department at Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA). RECE directly supports 14,000 public housing residents and voucher holders while also hosting broader initiatives – virtual expos, health & wellness fairs, & worker registration drives – open to the wider community. This internship will provide hands-on experience with community outreach, career development soft skills, data analysis, partnership & networking, resource management, and the lattice of support services available in the Jersey City area.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in outreach events to provide workforce development signups as well as on-the-spot resume support, referrals to programs, and career development plans
• Calling/texting members of the JCHA 500+ Workforce Development signup list to administer surveys and check on progress
• Finding online/in-person resources for career development and testing out existing models
• Helping populate and maintain resource catalogs, update workforce specific RECE webpages as needed, and develop bi-weekly workforce advancement email blasts
• Assisting with development, promotion and performance of Workforce Events, including (but not limited to) virtual Job & Training expos, career development workshops, workforce training info sessions, etc.
• Verification and quality standards proofing for construction project Employment & Contracting Opportunities plan documentation
• Experience with resume writing best practices and critiquing methods
