Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans are available through the Federal Direct loans program. Students must submit, in addition to the FAFSA, a separate loan application. Loans are renewable annually based upon satisfactory academic progress and continued eligibility. Students who are enrolled at least half-time may apply. Students must be citizens or eligible non-citizens of the U.S.
To apply for a federal student loan, the student must first complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Complete Your FAFSA. After completing the FAFSA, fill out and submit the Loan Agreement - Master Promissory Note (MPN).
The PLUS Loan is for parents of undergraduate dependent students. The loan is made to the parent by the Federal Direct Loan program. The parent may apply for the total cost of attendance minus any financial aid received. Repayment begins within 60 days of disbursement. To apply, complete the Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note).
All students who wish to accept a Federal Direct Loan (subsidized or unsubsidized) are required to complete Entrance Counseling. The goal of Entrance Counseling is to help you understand what it means to take out a federal student loan. Typically, you only need to complete Entrance Counseling your first year.
